Standardizing Cell Phone Chargers

August 30, 2008

Just like any other gadgets and high end portable devices, mobile phones also use chargers to recharge all the lost power from their batteries. Although cell phone chargers differ for every cell phone model, some phone manufacturers try to be consistent with their charger designs and specifications. Take for example Nokia phones; their chargers are common and usable with other Nokia phone models. Usually Nokia creates cell phone charger based on the phone series and in that Nokia N Series phone may share a common charger regardless of the phone model. Motorola and other major cell phone developers are also practicing it with their cell phone chargers to perhaps offer more cell phone flexibility.

Accordingly, it has been agreed in a major mobile phone industry forum that a standard type of connector will be installed in future cell phones. It should in effect extend the use of cell phone chargers beyond the use on the phone model that it is originally made for. This is actually good news for most consumers who hates to collect different phone chargers.

The forum that initiates this break through in the mobile phone industry is dominated by top companies from network operators to cell phone manufactures like Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, LG and Sony Ericsson. But aside from those cell phone manufacturers, there are actually many other manufacturers that focused only on developing a universal type of cell phone chargers that can be bought easily through online stores like in eBay and Amazon.
