About three years ago, I started my very first blog and it was out of a free blogger account. At that time, I’ve only heard about Blogger while Wordpress is yet to be introduced to me after a year. Stepping into blogosphere for the first time, I have little or almost no idea about the entire thing but fortunately, I found the Blogger admin interface very user friendly. With a very short experience of web designing using Macromedia Dreamweaver (now owned by Adobe), I thought almost instantly that I could create a website (blog) out of the free Blogger account without going through the tedious tasks which I have to perform if I am to create a site using the web authoring application Dreamweaver. I’ve actually mistaken a blog to a website during that time. I was thinking that they’re basically the same but overtime, I’ve slowly recognized the slight differences between a blog and a website.
But today, I don’t think a newbie would still see a blog just as he sees a website. I mean these two things are now very distinguishable already especially that blogs today are sprouting like mushrooms and even competing with websites in terms of their counts. Perhaps, this was brought about by the increasing number of blog portals that are providing free blog accounts to anyone with free lifetime hosting. Blogger and Wordpress are the two most used blog portal on the net. My blog, PinoyBlogPortal, was once hosted on Blogger but due to the better support, better themes, and the many plug-ins offered by Wordpress, I have decided to migrate my blog to Wordpress. The only advantage obvious advantage of using Blogger over Wordpress is that it offers free lifetime hosting to your blog.
