Knowledge is Power

December 19, 2008

Working as a freelance web content writer and web designer has been a very challenging experience for me. Knowing just the basics of the web structures does not really helped out as the competition is really tight among other freelancers online. But you don’t have to have long years of experience in order to land on a project, as long as you have some previous projects done that can added up to your portfolio then you are set to start.

Back then when I was still a novice, I used to study a number of web authoring applications that were really helpful in completing web design projects. Becoming familiar with the different formats and file extensions for images and graphics, programming languages and documents were the things that I enjoyed learning. Fortunately, what used to be hard-to-search and learn file extensions are now consolidated into a single web portal for people to easily get information from. Common file extensions like .exe, .doc, .docx are comprehensively presented to make learning easy even for the common people like moms and even kids.

So, for those of you who are planning to work as a freelancer, understanding file extensions and how they are generated is something you can do for a start. Some clients might require you to submit an article in an HTML format, so you should have a file with an extension of ‘.html’. Don’t worry these stuffs are quite easy to learn and they’re fun to study too. I hope you enjoyed and have learned a little about freelancing from this article.
